Professor Che Musa Che Omar specializes in the areas of tourism planning and development, and urban management. He has more than 35 years of experience in teaching and practice locally and abroad in the field of environmental planning, regional and urban development, EIA and tourism development projects. His professional work for public and private sector organizations including local, state, and regional authorities in Malaysia and international agencies, such as UNCRD, AIVN, PECC, JICA and Belgium Economic Council on Tourism and urban planning. His present interests are on ecotourism and urban management, and sustainability development. He is involved in developing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in tourism planning and development, ecotourism and urban management at Universiti Kuala Lumpur and professionally he is a Registered Town Planner with the Board of Town Planners Malaysia. Professor Che Musa has a broad spectrum of experience both as an academic at Universiti Sains Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia, and Universiti Putra Malaysia, and as practitioner at Penang Island Municipal Council, KETENGAH and firms in the field of urban environmental planning and tourism planning. He is also Adjunct Professor in Urban Planning & Design Programme, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Taylor’s University School of Tourism & Hospitality and University College Twintech Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. He has involved in more than 50 commissioned research projects and published more than 60 papers in journal and conference proceedings. He is a frequent presenter and moderator at local and international conferences and seminars. He has written 2 books and 5 book chapters related to urban planning. He is currently working on a book on local tourism and resort development. He is active in society as Chairman of Culture, Art, Heritage & Tourism Association and former Secretary (NR) and Chairman of Education Committee Malaysian Institute of Planners. Prior to joining UniKL, he was a Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni) at the City University College of Science & Technology and also on the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme by Southern Cross University, Australia.
