Professor Kamarudin Mohd Nor lectures and researches in the areas of sustainable development, project management and construction technopreneurship. His present interests are on green procurement/purchasing, low-carbon building design, eco-township and sustainable construction materials. He is involved in the Master of Green and Energy Efficient Building programme at UniKL and as a subject matter expert on Sustainable Construction under the MSc Project management progamme at the Open University Malaysia. Professionally, he is a corporate building surveyor and building engineer. He is also a certified Green Building Index Facilitator. Professor Kamarudin Mohd Nor has a broad spectrum of experience both as an academic and a practitioner in the industry for more than 38 years. In the world of the academia, he taught at 5 universities both locally and abroad previously [Universiti Sains Malaysia as an Associate Professor, Universiti Malaysia Perlis as a Visiting Professor, UCSI University as a full Professor, Universiti Malaya as an Adjunct Professor and University of Wales, Cardiff as a part-time lecturer]. In the industry, he has been a project manager (with a development company under UDA), a general manager (of the CIDB Malaysia) and a managing director of a public-listed company ( a subsidiary of PKNK). He had also held a civil service post as an Assistant State Secretary (local government) of Kedah in the early 70s and a diplomatic post as an education attaché with the Malaysian High Commission for the United Kingdom in London from 2000 to 2004. He is the current Chairman of a national sub-committee on the training of contractors on Best Green Practices (under the CIDB Malaysia). He is also Chairman of Koperasi (Cooperative) Pembangunan Bisnes Ampang Berhad that focuses on providing marketing consultancy and entrepreneurship training in green technology services and products. He has published more than 30 articles in academic publications and co-authored 2 text books. He is finishing up a book on sustainable construction in Malaysia to be published towards the end of this year. He has also presented around 20 papers at international and local conferences and seminars. Prior to joining the UniKL, he was a Professor of Architectural Technology and Building Management with the UCSI University.
